This photo collection is a product of fieldwork in the desert between the Nile and the Red Sea in January, February and March 2003.
The fieldwork was carried out by a joint research team from Departments of History, Classical Studies and Botany at the University of Bergen.
Jørgen Christian Meyer's fieldwork was also part of the joint research program, Trade, migration and cultural change in the Indian Ocean,
at the Department of History, University of Bergen, financed by the Norwegian Research Council.
